Cadillac will offer the new XTS luxury Sedan as a limousine, replacing the company’s existing DTS-based limos for livery duty. The new models will be launched February 13 at the Las Vegas International Limousine, Charter, and Tour show. The XTS will be offered in both extended sedan and limousine trims from late 2012. Cadillac believes the new XTS limo, like the sedan on which it is based, will help the brand promote a fresh, more youthful appearance to customers. “This new vehicle will help dispel some of the myths out there about Cadillac, Cadillac Professional Vehicles Program Manager Ray Bush said in a statement. “The XTS will further that with outstanding ride characteristics.
The Cadillac was unveiled at the Los Angeles Show last fall, and takes the place of the erstwhile DTS and STS as Cadillac’s flagship luxury sedan. The car is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine producing 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque, with power routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. Both front- and all-wheel-drive variants are available. The regular 2013 XTS seats five passengers, has a 111.7 inch wheelbase, measures 202.0 inches long overall, and weighs between 3995 and 4180 pounds depending on drive train. Stretching the XTS to make a limousine capable of seating more passengers will almost certainly increase the cars mass, in part because the vehicle must be reinforced when it is lengthened.
